Our comments: Restaurant in Cardiff prison, offering prisoners from Cardiff and Prescoed prisons full time work to obtain qualifications in the catering industry. They cater for vegans and it is accredited with a food allergen certificate. All Clink managers are allergy awareness certified and all prisoners, both front and back of house undergo allergy awareness training on day one of induction. The vegan a la carte lunch and gourmet dinner evening menus follow; these menus can be altered to your specific favourite dishes if required.
Lunch a la carte menu
Starters: Chef’s soup of the day served with sourdough bread, carpaccio of Heritage tomato & micro herb salad, pea gnocchi.
Mains: Roast red pepper polenta, chargrilled radicchio, red pepper purée, green beans & soy foam, courgette risotto, confit tomatoes, greens, lemon & chilli croutons & toasted pine nuts, seasonal vegetable ratatouille.
Sides: Selection of vegetables, triple cooked chips with red wine vinegar sea salt, side salad.
Dessert: Grilled peaches & raspberry sorbet, seasonal fruit salad with sorbet.
Evening gourmet menu
Starters: Chef’s soup of the day served with sourdough bread, wild mushroom rosti served with crispy kale, bruschetta of balsamic glazed figs served with pickled autumn vegetables & grilled walnuts.
Second Courses: Miso & rice noodle broth, tomato carpaccio & micro herb salad.
Mains: Seasonal vegetable ratatouille, beetroot gnocchi served in a caramelised onion broth with crispy sprout leaves & mushroom dust, roasted squash & sage risotto.
Desserts: Poached Comice pear served with freshly grated cinnamon, autumn fruit salad served with blackberry sorbet.
Finale: Speciality tea or coffee served with peppermint brittle.

Location:
In Cardiff prison, on the edge of the city centre, not too far from Queen Street railway station.
