Comments: There is a good selection of labelled vegan dishes on the Free From menu: Mushroom tagliatelle (made with soya milk) served with side salad, vegetable quarter pounder served with chips or fries, Indian spiced quarter pounder (soft lentils & vegetables, seasoned with mild & fragrant Indian style spices) served with chips or fries, golden crumbed schnitzels (seasoned grains & legumes in a golden crumb) served with garlic mushrooms, fries & side salad, sweet potato & edamame burger (sweet potato, green lentils, edamame beans, carrots & pumpkin seed) served with chips or fries and chicken style strips served with stuffed pepper & side salad.
They can also provide a vegan breakfast. Soya milk is available for teas and coffees.
There is a set 3 course vegan menu available with a booking. 1849 provided the following to a local vegan group at Christmas and they were very impressed.
Starters: Stuffed roasted peppers (filled with tomato, rice, red onion & kidney beans), Carrot, parsnip & potato soup with spiced apple crisp.
Mains: Mushroom wellington (wrapped in vegan puff pastry, served with roasted potatoes & seasonal vegetables), vegetable kebabs with chicken style strips (served with stuffed pepper and side salad & couscous dome), Indian spiced quarter pounder served with chips or fries.
Desserts: Dark chocolate Xmas log with a blackberry coulis, fruit platter.
They can provide vegan afternoon teas and cater for vegan weddings.

Comments: There is quite a range of vegan options on the menu and there are regularly vegan items on the specials board. They make sure that there at least one soup that is vegan. The healthy vegetarian breakfast can be adapted to be vegan by replacing the eggs with tenderstem broccoli. At the time of research they were offering a 3 course Christmas menu with labelled vegan options of pea & mint soup, traditional nut roast with trimmings and Christmas pudding. They have oat and almond milks for drinks.
