Comments: The pizza bases and sauce are suitable for vegans. They can also top the pizzas with vegan cheese but you may have to wait for them to get it in. The garlic pizza bread is also vegan. Very nice pizzas too, highly recommended.

Comments: Inform the staff that you are vegan; the sweet potato, chickpea & spinach curry, served with rice, chips or half & half is suitable. They can also provide jacket potatoes, salad etc. On the Sunday lunch menu they serve a vegan shepherds pie made with lentils, chickpeas, sun dried tomatoes and a sweet potato mash. This can be made by request, if ordered in advance, at other service times.

Comments: Can devise vegan lunch or supper menus but ask that you inform them on booking. The soda bread they normally offer is not vegan but they can provide suitable sourdough bread with olive oil instead of butter. They will substitute olives for the non-suitable amuse bouche.
If you just turn up they can offer a vegan dish but prefer prior notice to provide a balanced, thought out and printed menu of about three choices for each course. The pub is very clued up on veganism and will research if the wines on offer are suitable for vegans. An example of a previous vegan menu offered is:

Mains: (served with panache of vegetables) Vialone Nano risotto with pea & mint or potato gnocchi with wild Mushrooms, broad beans, peas & thyme.

Comments: They have a specific vegan menu with options such as curry, chilli, a noodle dish, salad, houmous & roasted vegetable wrap and chips. Pizza without cheese is on offer in certain pubs. The breakfast menu (served until 12 noon) includes a cooked breakfast (with Quorn sausages and vegan spread but no beans) and smashed avocado muffin. Soya milk is available for filter coffees and teas and they have a list of all their vegan friendly drinks.

Comments: They state on the menus they can cater for vegans; ask the staff what is suitable. The soup is always vegan. There are also jacket potatoes and sandwiches with fillings such as roast vegetables and houmous, salad options and specials like nut roast. Local vegans describe them as "Pretty good, they always tend to have vegan food." Anything they don't have they can easily get, as they are located next to two supermarkets. They stock soya milk and offer a vegan flapjack. Gluten free alternatives are also available.

Comments: There is a range of vegan pasties, sausage rolls etc. in the chiller that can be taken away and eaten. Also as it is a health food shop, there are plenty of suitable snacks on sale.

Comments: Many of the pizzas they sell can be suitable for vegans and they offer quite a few. Order a pizza without cheese, along with the suitable toppings desired. The pizza cutter, pizza peel and cutting bench are wiped clean prior to extracting the pizza from the oven and cutting it, so that no animal product can be inadvertently transferred to the pizza. This process and care has helped them build up a large vegetarian customer base, along with a few vegans and has been appreciated by members of religious groups for the same reason. Vegans are welcome to bring in their own choice of vegan cheese to be used on their pizzas, along with any toppings they don’t have. They have available a list of the ingredients of all their food products. Let them know you are vegan prior to preparation of your pizza. They have been aware of the requirements of the vegan diet and catered for vegans for nearly 35 years.

Comments: The core menu is available daily and vegans can have the houmous, in a sandwich, wrap or on a jacket potato. Providing customers are not looking for instant food they will also make up a vegan pasta bake. Antipasto ingredients are stocked and they are happy for customers to make requests. Pilgrims has a very good knowledge of vegan requirements, take pride in their food and make everything on site, so they can adapt to vegan needs.

Comments: Vegans who visited here were advised on arrival that they didn’t have any vegan dishes. After a chat with the staff they found they could be very well catered for. With a few tweaks here and there they ended up with a table full of food and they would definitely go again.
